Virtual Instructor Led-Trainings
Overview
This project aimed to onboard staff members to deliver the services of a care coordinator in a global risk program with a new insurance partner.
The Challenge
The challenge was to move Medical Loss Ratio from 120% to 90% over 3 years with the first goal to get people to schedule an annual wellness visit. Care coordinators needed to be trained about their role, learn protocol and documentation, understand chronic conditions, and build trust with client. Because different SMEs were going to deliver the subject matter trainings, the challenge was to create a framework that provided cohesion to the entire arch of the trainings through using personas and work with each SME to create objectives, engagement, demonstrations and ways of application.
The Solution
Develop a 12-session Virtual Instructor Led Trainings including 8 part training series on line of service + 4 sessions on Mental Health, Health Equity, Chronic Disease management to be delivered over Microsoft Teams.
The Process
To provide a patient-centric and learner-centric learning environment, trainings were designed following the ADDIE model and utilized a service design blueprint, user personas, and collaboration with Subject Matter Experts and cross-functional teams.
Results
By utilizing knowledge checks in each training, weekly feedback forms from care coordinators, monthly manager feedback sessions, the utilization of peer learning communities for practice and further feedback, utilizing competency rubrics to assess care quality, we predict that KPIs of increasing the number of patients attending an annual wellness visit and patient retention would increase. The desired amount was yet to be determined.
